Quality

The theme of quality in the company Colben is a subject that embraces the entire activity at 360°. Quality represents the parameter that guides all the phases of the life cycle of a product: it starts from the analysis of the customer’s request and concludes with the delivery and the final inspection of the product.
In Colben, the process of continuous improvement is an integral part of daily work. The training of skills, the application of the PDCA method, of the 5S and of Lean Production are the main pillars for achieving the excellent results of the team.
Metrology
The company has a metrology room dedicated to the dimensional inspection of small parts and to the proper storage of measuring instruments.
The components that cannot be introduced into the room are measured in the production area, where the temperature is constantly monitored through an advanced air-conditioning system of the entire facility.
Among the various measuring instruments, Colben has the API system equipped with a probe for precise measurements on medium/large-sized parts and for the creation of meshes and point clouds.
The Soraluce FS100 system allows dimensional checks similar to those of a CMM through Hexagon software and in accordance with our machine verification protocol.

Traceability
The entire production process of an item is studied and defined by Colben’s technical team. For each product, a digital folder called “job order” is prepared, which collects all the relevant documentation: from the quotation to the delivery note, from the purchase of the material to the related certificates of origin, including procedures, projects, purchases, processing times and planning, supplier certification, and dimensional quality reports.
All this is made possible by an integrated IT system that includes ERP, MRP, MES, technical scheduling, and dimensional surveys, in order to ensure a supply chain monitored according to the established lead times.
The marking of the component can be carried out by means of a label, an identification plate, or, if required, by direct engraving on the part.
These processes are adopted to ensure full traceability of the products, an element considered essential to guarantee the certification and compliance of the final product.
Machine Tool Maintenance
A fundamental aspect to ensure the high quality of the final product consists in maintaining the machine tools in optimal condition, both from the perspective of mechanical and electronic maintenance, and from the geometric and dimensional point of view. This approach makes it possible to guarantee maximum efficiency in machining and the punctual compliance with delivery times.
Maintenance management is carried out according to a structured protocol of routine maintenance, supplemented by an annual plan that includes the most critical interventions.
The company periodically monitors the geometry of the machines using API laser systems, followed by verification with a calibrated bar; upon request, certificates of conformity can be issued.
